What needs to be done to minimize the attrition rate among teachers and refine the support they receive?  This keynote takes administrators back to the basics of Investing in teachers on the front end by equipping them to set boundaries and achieve a proper work-life balance to avoid overwork and burnout, manage the workload properly by prioritizing their duties and responsibilities, teach confidently and effectively, celebrate the small wins along the way; and maintain their well-being over time.

Administrators will reconnect with strategies that will shift the culture and climate of their schools and avoid teacher burnout, minimize teacher turnover, establish a culture and climate of mutual trust, respect, and partnership, create teacher leaders from within the classroom, all while increasing student achievement and keeping teachers in the career fulfillment zone.

Since society is determined to make the path to success a one-way or no-way path the norm for all students, the education system has a responsibility of spearheading the rebranding of what college AND career readiness consists of.  Students are under enormous pressure to choose between taking high school courses that will prepare them for college OR career tech classes that will prepare them for the workforce.  Isn’t the goal to have students prepared for college AND career?

This keynote will explore research and best practices related to the correlation between CTE pathway completion and higher graduation rates, increased attendance, decreased discipline, and the number of students graduating with industry related credentials.  It brings CTE to the forefront of the discussion and places it as a Plan A addition to AP, gifted and honors courses and not a plan B option.

High school is a time to explore new possibilities and figure out who you really are.  It’s like going on a quest.  For the teen girl, this can be one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of her life, or it can be a series of wrong decisions that set the scene for one dramatic issue after the other.  During this time of exploration, girls will begin to discover important characteristics about themselves and others.  Some will be good and some not so good; however, the key is to learn from the experiences.

This keynote is designed to guide adults in a rich dialogue surrounding the best practices for supporting teen girls while they learn to love the person in the mirror, maneuver through the madness of high school, and chart their path to success.

This is an interactive hands-on session that empowers teachers to tap into the underutilized resources at their fingertips.  Tips, strategies, scripts, and best practices will be shared and teachers will discover how to bridge the gap between their classroom and the real world.  By enlisting the full support of business partners as experts who bring value to the classroom through the powerful currency of cultivating their relationships.

There is no better way to prepare your businesses skilled workforce than to partner with Career Technical Education programs in high school.  Being an active participant in the preparation process will afford businesses the opportunity to work hand in hand with CTE pathway instructors and ensure they are preparing students, AKA future employees, to transition from the classroom to the workforce if they so choose to! 

CTE teachers ARE teachers.  They deal with the same challenges as teachers who went through traditional educator prep programs. Unfortunately, many instructional coaches forget that when it comes to supporting the instructional capacity of CTE teachers.

Take a look inside a CTE classroom and you will be astonished at what students are capable of doing. However, for instructional coaches who are not prepared for what they see, it can be challenging to navigate through the lens of a traditional observation tool. 

Prepare your instructional coaches with the strategies and tools they will need to support CTE teachers who have transitioned from industry into the classroom.

The Right Relationships Matter.

Teachers need support in cultivating positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and other key individuals who support the mission and vision of the school.

Teachers need more than run of the mill professional development that promote strategies that do not meet the needs of teachers and students in a post-pandemic educational setting. 

Teachers, professional development, and life-long learning go hand-in-hand.  Professional development that support continuous learning is needed in order to meet the ever changing demands of the profession.

The students in today’s classrooms do not relate to the classroom management strategies that were used when their parents were in school.

One of the leading causes of teacher attrition is the inability to come to work each day and teach in an environment that fosters peace, safety, mutual respect, and a love of learning.

In order to support teachers through the daily challenges of maintaining effective classroom management, administrators must be intentional with providing consistent, on-going support in this area.

Having the right tools to plan assessments that are effective, measure student mastery, and provide data that can be used to effectively plan for closing the achievement gap and accelerated learning is key to continuous achievement.  It is important for teachers to have on-going support through instructional coaching, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher mentors throughout their tenure in the profession.
